On April 3, 2025, the Supreme Court, in an unprecedented judgment, nullified the appointments of 26,000 secondary and higher-secondary government school teachers in West Bengal. These teachers were recruited through the West Bengal School Service Commission examination in 2016. Subsequent allegations of corruption in the recruitment process prompted a CBI-led investigation ordered by the Calcutta High Court in 2021. Following the CBI's report, the Calcutta High Court terminated these teachers in 2023.

The Workers Manifesto – 2024

This is a well-documented report that has analysed the impact of one year of Covid-19 in India, on jobs, incomes, inequality, and poverty. The rising inequality and loss of wages is really alarming. It says, “our analysis shows that the pandemic has further increased informality and led to a severe decline in earnings for the majority of workers resulting in a sudden increase in poverty. Women and younger workers have been disproportionately affected. Households have coped by reducing food intake, borrowing, and selling assets.

बिहार राज्य औद्योगिक प्रशिक्षण संस्थान कर्मचारी संघ (गोप गुट) के नेतृत्व में 25 फरवरी 2019 से कलमबंद हड़ताल शुरू हो गई है जिसमें आईटीआई के सभी संवर्ग के कर्मी शामिल हैं.

बिहार राज्य अराजपत्रित कर्मचारी महासंघ (गोप गुट) और ऐक्टू ने इस हड़ताल को पूर्ण समर्थन दिया है.

विगत 15 नवम्बर 2018 को झारखंड राज्य की स्थापना की अठारहवीं बरसी यानी राजकीय धूमधाम से मनाये जाने वाले ‘स्थापना दिवस’ के अवसर पर राज्य के पारा शिक्षक अपनी मांगों को लेकर रांची पहुंचे थे. कारण यह था कि मुख्यमंत्री ने मुख्य सचिव की अध्यक्षता में एक उच्चस्तरीय कमेटी बनाई थी, जिसने पांच राज्यों का दौरा किया था. इस दौरे के आधार पर भाजपा-शासित दूसरे आदिवासी बहुल राज्य छत्तीसगढ़ की तर्ज पर झारखंड के पारा शिक्षकों को स्थायी कर वेतनमान देने की बात हुई थी. मुख्यमंत्री को पारा शिक्षकों की सेवा स्थाई करने व वेतनमान की घोषणा करनी थी, परन्तु उन्होंने ऐसा नहीं किया.

कस्तूरबा गांधी बालिका विद्यालय की सैकड़ों कर्मियों द्वारा 25 अक्टूबर को अपने 10 सूत्री मांगों खासकर नियमितीकरण, मानदेय बढ़ोतरी, आदि के लिए पटना में बिहार शिक्षा परियोजना निदेशक के समक्ष जोरदार नारेबाजी के साथ प्रदर्शन करते हुए कार्यालय को ठप कर दिया. प्रदर्शन का आहृान ‘कस्तूरबा गांधी बालिका विद्यालय एम्प्लाइज यूनियन (संबद्ध ऐक्टू) ने किया था. प्रदर्शन का नेतृत्व यूनियन की अध्यक्ष कुमारी विद्यावती सिंह ने किया. प्रदर्शनकारी महिलाओं का तेवर देख बाध्य होकर राज्य शिक्षा परियोजना निदेशक ने यूनियन प्रतिनिधियों को वार्ता के लिए बुलाया.
