The Struggle of TANTEA Workers in Tamil Nadu
TANTEA is a tea estate in Valparai of Nilgiri Hills, owned by the Tamil Nadu state government. The workers of this estate have been demanding dignified working conditions and increase in wages. AICCTU has formed a union in TANTEA, mainly of women involved in plucking tea leaves, to raise the issue of rights of workers who toil to keep the estate running.
Tamil Nadu: Contract Workers of Neyveli Lignite Corporation on a Protracted Struggle for Justice
Neyveli Lignite Corporation of India Limited (NLC) is a central public sector undertaking established in 1956 under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. The CPSU produces 30 million tons of lignite annually from open cast mines in Neyveli, the coal town of Tamil Nadu and Barsingsar of Rajasthan. It owns thermal power stations with an installed capacity of 3640 MW.
Tamil Nadu State Conference of Construction Workers Union
Tamil Nadu Democratic Construction Labour Union (affiliated to AICWF-AICCTU) held its 4th state conference at Kanyakumari (NK Natarajan nagar) on 7th July 2023. The conference Hall was named after Comrades Hari Singh and Jaffar and the stage was named after Comrades Ponraj and Omprakash Sharma.
